WHICH TAIL LIGHTS DOES A TRAILER HAVE?
Tail light, indicator, brake light, rear fog light and reversing light (this from 750 kg permissible total weight) must be present in the lighting of the trailer. An E-approval mark on the light is mandatory. In addition, two triangular reflectors in the colour red are required. These reflectors can be integrated in the trailer tail light. The trailer light is operated in parallel to the towing vehicle via the connecting plug to the trailer socket. Additional marker lights are only required if the trailer protrudes more Thun 40 cm beyond the marker lights of the towing vehicle.
TRAILER REAR LIGHT FUNCTIONS
The quantity and functions of the rear lights on the trailer are legally regulated by StVZO § 53. It states that motor vehicles and their trailers must be equipped with two sufficiently effective, red tail lights at the rear. Two rear lights, two brake lights and two indicators are required. Each mounted on the left and right as a trailer tail light. One rear fog light is mandatory, a second one may be fitted. We can supply trailer rear lights with the function of an integrated rear fog light. A reversing light is possible for trailers with a gross vehicle weight of less than 750 kg. For heavier weights, a reversing light is mandatory. Trailers over 6 m in length or HGV trailers require two reversing lights. Our reversing lights can also be used on HGV trailers. Regardless of the type of trailer (car or HGV), the mandatory lighting can also consist of two lights (housings) on each side.
TECHNOLOGY AND CONNECTION OF A TRAILER TAIL LIGHT
In order to meet the legal requirements for trailer tail lights, the lights must fulfil the prescribed luminosity for the individual functions. For example, the brake light must be significantly brighter than the standard tail light. The triangular reflectors additionally prescribed for trailers may also be integrated in the rear lights. This very practical design is also available in our range. The lighting itself can be provided by incandescent lamps or LEDs. LEDs are long-lasting, energy-saving and state of the art in illuminants. As a rule, the LED of the LED trailer tail lights does not need to be replaced. The LED trailer tail lights work as long as the trailer is in operation. In addition, LED lights are insensitive to vibrations. The very reasonable price of rear lights with bulbs is their only advantage over LED tail lights for trailers. Otherwise, conventional trailer tail lights are maintenance-intensive due to the irregular failure of the lamps in the tail light and their replacement. In principle, trailer tail lights should also be water-resistant or waterproof. Moisture can damage the LED or bulbs. Our offered trailer rear lights guarantee a corresponding tightness.
Besides the permanently mounted trailer rear lights, we also offer mobile magnetic trailer rear lights. These trailer rear lights are attached to the vehicle by means of magnets. They are used to replace non-functioning trailer rear lights for a transport operation that would otherwise fail due to the defective tail lights. Our magnetic trailer tail light set is complete with plug and two trailer tail lights connected by cable.
TRAILER TAIL LIGHT WITH LED
Trailers are used for many kilometres every day in the professional or commercial sector. This is especially true for tail lights on HGV trailers. LED trailer tail lights are the right choice here. Thanks to the long-lasting LED technology, there is no need to worry about trailer tail lights failing. It is also not necessary to carry spare lamps when using LED. Journeys with trailers are possible without interruption. This is a clear cost advantage over the lower purchase price of trailer lights with incandescent lamps. If you want to save money, drive with LED trailer tail lights.
TRAILER TAIL LIGHTS WITH BULBS
Trailer tail lights with conventional bulbs still impress with a favourable purchase price. LED trailer tail lights can be dispensed with if the trailer is rarely used, for example. This is often the case with car trailers. If the trailer is used for only a few hours a week or even a month, the advantage of the extreme longevity of LED tail lights for trailers does not apply. In these applications, you can always use incandescent lamps in the rear lights of the trailers.
