Lighting techniques of the work lights
Because of the great product advantages offered by LED technology, we now stock almost exclusively professional LED work lights. We still offer a headlamp from Nordic Lights in the H3 bulb category (halogen work lights).
LEDs emit about six times the lumen output per watt compared to a halogen bulb. The service life of the LED is higher than that of an H3 work light by a factor of approx. 30 (!). It is not normally necessary to replace the bulb in LED headlights. The housings of our headlamps are mostly made of high-quality aluminium. This ensures good heat dissipation and thus constant light output. All of our LED work lights can be operated either with 12V or 24V power.
We offer LED headlights with different light outputs or forms of illumination for the optimum lighting of your application. There are two types of illumination: a wide close-range illumination and a narrower long-range illumination. The width and length of the light field of LED work lights is determined by the shape of the reflector and the structure of the protective lens. Furthermore, the height of the mounting point of a headlamp influences the size of the luminous flux.
Mount work lights individually for different applications
The lighting equipment of work lights is crucial for the optimal illumination of your work site. The following must be clarified before procuring additional floodlights:
- Which area of illumination is to be covered by the work light?
- How many spotlights with what power in watts or lumens are needed for the task?
- Is there a restriction due to a maximum permissible power consumption of the additional headlights?
- Where and how are the selected headlights optimally mounted?
When installing or retrofitting, various technical conditions must be observed when it comes to connecting the work lights.
- Sufficient cable cross-section to the work lights.
- The lights can be switched on and off individually or as a group via fused switches that match the current consumption - or better - via relays.
- Switching via a relay has the advantage that the cable between the switch and the relay requires only a small cable cross-section and thus less installation effort due to the minimal current consumption.
- The total current consumption of the additional lighting must match the power of the alternator or battery capacity of the vehicle.
Work lights for tractors and commercial vehicle
In agriculture, tractors of well-known brands (John Deere, Fendt etc.) determine the field of application of tractor work lights. As much power as possible is needed for the lights here, since tractors often work at night during harvesting operations. Therefore, our bright and powerful LED worklights, combined with close-range and long-distance illumination, are the first choice for such applications. Mounting as high as possible, e.g. on the cab roof, is advantageous for wide-ranging illumination. Often, even existing, low-power halogen luminaires can be easily replaced by an LED version. For other commercial vehicles used e.g. by local authorities, fire brigades, German Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW), transport services, civil engineering companies (excavators) etc., the LED work lights must always be fitted depending on the application.
Truck work lights and large vans
LED work lights for trucks are also used in the large transporter sector for specific applications. The power capacity of these large vehicles can also cover a larger power demand with many working lights well. HGVs such as tow trucks, crane services and recovery vehicles with cranes often have to work at night and a safe operation site needs good illumination. Powerful LED headlights or light bars or lighting masts are required here. Especially also for work lights of the fire department or the German Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW).
Car work lights
Which cars need extra lights? These are, for example, service vehicles, breakdown service vehicles, forestry vehicles, jeeps, etc. At least one work light is necessary here, two are better. The round work lights are often mounted on the roof rack of the car, which is well suited as the highest point on the vehicle. If you don't want a fixed mount, you can use detachable headlamps with a switch and holding magnet.
