LED work lights compared to xenon and halogen work lights
Popular conventional work lights with halogen and xenon bulbs have now been replaced by work lights with modern LED technology. The light output or luminous flux from a light source is measured in lumen, whereas the power consumption is measured in watts. The use of high-performance LEDs enables our LED work lights to generate a very high lumen output for a low power consumption. In fact, our LED work lights produce a lumen output that is three to five times higher for the comparable power consumption used in watts. Work lights with LEDs and halogen work lights are both available at similar low prices. However, for the same price, halogen lights only provide a weak light output and low-contrast lighting. The power consumption for this is quite high and the lifespan is very limited.
Even xenon work lights, which provide a similar brightness level as LED work lights, have been superseded by LEDs because xenon technology is expensive and complex. Xenon lights also take approx. 10-15 seconds to reach their full brightness. The lifespan of xenon tubes is significantly longer than that of halogen technology, however, it still falls far short of the lifespan achieved by LEDs.
ProLux LED work lights offer only advantages compared to “old” technology. LED lights with white high-contrast colours help prevent eye strain and premature fatigue. LEDs use much less power to generate comparable brightness levels and have a significantly longer service life. They are also insensitive to shocks and vibrations. Our LED work lights are dustproof and waterproof and rated to IP67 or higher. All our LED work lights have a sturdy black housing made of plastic or aluminium.
12V and 24V LED work lights
Previously, conventional lighting technology with halogen bulbs or xenon tubes required the user to select either 12V LED work lights or 24V LED work lights depending on the operating voltage of the vehicle. Even early LED technology had the same limitations. However, our latest state-of-the-art LED work lights are all fitted with multi-voltage technology. This means that each of our LED work lights can be connected to a 12 volt or a 24 volt battery. The light output and light colour are identical with both voltages. Our LED work lights offer various types of illumination. You can choose between different shaped light beams (depending on the model). We supply work lights designed for wide and intensive close-range illumination as well as work lights that provide narrower, long-range illumination. Please find an illumination diagram in our detailed article description.
Brightness levels of different LED work lights (lumen output)
We have listed a few of our very high-performance and excellent value LED lights below to give you a brief overview of the light outputs achieved by our LED work lights:
- LED work light, rectangular, model HW 2800, 3040 lumen, power requirement 24 watts
- LED work light, round, model HWA 5200, light output 5200 lumen, power requirement 54 watts
- LED work light, square, model HL 20, very high light output 12600 lumen, power requirement 56 watts
This is only a small selection from our extensive range of professional work lights with LED technology. More work lights are available in our online shop. There you will also find HELLA work lights, e.g. the reliable Hella Power Beam.
Applications for work lights with LED technology
There are many possible applications for work lights with LED technology. In general, they are used as extra lights for illuminating work sites. They are used in the agricultural sector as LED tractor work lights as well as in the forestry sector on tractors or cranes. Another use for vehicle work lights is in the towing and breakdown recoovery sectors. Here they are used to illuminate accident sites and areas where roadside assistance is required. LED work lights are also used by fire brigades and emergency response organisations as floodlights to illuminate the necessary areas. Nighttime construction sites use work lights mounted on construction machinery, such as excavators, to provide a high-contrast, bright light. This allows work to be carried out safely and effectively, even at night. LED work lights with different light beams are often used together in order to meet the lighting requirements of a particular site. Using a combination of close-range and long-range illumination can provide the ideal light conditions for working.
