Launching boats safely and easily with boat winches
Slip is a nautical term used to describe the process of either launching or retrieving a watercraft. This typically involves using an electric boat winch in conjunction with a boat trailer or an existing slipway to move boats or jet skis in and out of the water. When launching, the trailer is partially submerged in the water, allowing the boat to float off it after being lowered. In the case of a permanent slipway, a ramp extends further into deeper water for this purpose. Stationary slipways are commonly found in fortified harbours along lakes, rivers, or coastal areas. Having your own boat trailer with a slipway is ideal for transporting your boat to any desired location for convenient launching into the water. The towing of watercraft by means of a boat trailer is made much easier with our boat winches. They are available as hand winches or electric winches. The winches are robust, weatherproof and have a sturdy, impact-resistant housing.
WHICH WINCH IS BEST SUITED FOR BOAT TRAILERS?
In the trailer sector with a permissible total weight of up to 3.5 t, manual cable winches or electric winches for boat trailers with up to 2000 kg pulling force with a rolling load are used. This is sufficient for lowering or raising watercraft in the weight class mentioned. At the same time, our boat winches are compact and lightweight. This ensures trouble-free installation of the winch on your trailer. The decision now has to be made as to which type of boat trailer winch will be your boat winch. If providing power through a vehicle's battery or a cable proves to be too expensive, you have the option of selecting a manual hand cable winch. This hand-operated winch can be used with either a steel cable or, alternatively, a webbing in place of the cable. A hand winch can effectively manage loads of up to 1.1 tons. While electric boat trailer winches offer greater convenience, they do rely on electrical power for operation. In contrast, electric trailer winches possess a considerably higher pulling force than manual winches and do not necessitate power-intensive operation. All our winches have an automatic locking system for safety reasons. I.e. as soon as you stop pulling or lowering your boat, the brakes are applied immediately and thus the position of the boat is fixed.
Electric boat trailer winches
An electric boat trailer winch is, of course, a very practical solution for launching and retrieving your watercraft. The winch is controlled by the cable remote control supplied. This wired remote control can also be conveniently replaced by our wireless radio remote control for cable winches. Our 12V electric winches are available with up to 2000 kg pulling load. A battery is required to drive the trailer winch, which is mounted on the trailer. Alternatively, the boat winches can be powered directly from the towing vehicle. For this purpose, you need high-performance cables with appropriate plug connections.
Hand winch as a rope boat winch
A hand cable winch as a boat trailer winch is a cost-effective option. The hand winch is compact and lightweight, and requires no electrical power to operate other than your own strength by hand. You don't have to worry about having a fully charged battery. The crank is removable and can be easily stowed in the towing vehicle. This manual boat winches can be operated with a steel winch cable or webbing. The belt has the advantage that it is more comfortable to handle than a rigid rope made of steel wires. In terms of pulling power, however, manual cable winches do not come close to powerful electric trailer winches.
