Electric Ramsey winches

Electric Ramsey winches are operated with  12 V or 24 V. Power can be supplied by the vehicle battery or an external battery (e.g., on a trailer). Make sure that you have sufficient battery capacity. Powerful traction requires high current strength. Using a 24 V power source is beneficial, because this voltage only uses half the electricity compared with 12 V. Electric cables must have a suitable cross section (min. 35 mm2). If an electric winch has to continuously work hard, this can cause the electric motor to heat up. Taking breaks to allow the motor to cool down is recommended . Electric Ramsey winches have planetary gears or worm gears. The winches have a traction force of up to over 6,000 kg. Winches with an electric drive have the advantage of being integrable into almost any vehicle , including SUVs and off-road vehicles. You just need to make sure that your chosen installation site can cope with the traction force of the winch. Electric winches can also be designed to be detachable if they are not going to be used regularly. The best way to do this is to use a removable mounting plate.

Hydraulic Ramsey winches

Hydraulic winches from Ramsey get their traction force from an integrated hydraulic motor. The motor is connected to a hydraulic system and requires an operating pressure of at least 150 – 175 bar. Large lorries usually have a suitable hydraulic system, or this can be retrofitted. A hydraulic winch is permanently mounted onto the vehicle. Unlike electric winches, hydraulic winches cannot be removed quickly.
